May 18 Meeting & Kayak Rack

Hello All,

Happy Summer,

We have lots of good things to share.

The Bi-Annual clean up / meeting went well.

Thank you again to everyone that showed up and dug in. We got it done.

Special thanks to Mike Freeland and Charlie and Odallis Rull for the use of their equipment and dumping the refuse.

Again, apologies to those that planned on the 17th.

Here are the results of the agenda items we voted on.

  • Install trash can , yes. Mike Freeland will maintain it.
  • Expand the swimming area, no.
  • Purchase dense grade material and combination lock for the boat ramp, yes
  • Reimburse Patrice 226.31 for materials ( new swimming ropes, etc), yes

The following items will be added to the By-Laws.

  • Increase boat owners’ yearly fee to $ 50 to help cover the cost of continued repairs on the ramp.
  • Renters pay $25 yearly launch fee.
  • Only watercraft intended for use by owners on GHP can be launched at the boat ramp. Test driving of watercraft with intent to sell is prohibited.

There will be a combination lock on the gate within the next few days. Please email this address for the combination, as it is not going out in a group email.

We tabled the discussion about proxy voting until the fall. Those present felt there should be a higher number of members present to vote on such an important item.

Huge shout out to Brittany Cammarano. She has stepped up to fill the Secretary position.

And thank you Meaghan O’Brien for stepping up to volunteer to put in the swimming ropes. She and Norm are waiting for a decent day .

We got good news from the town regarding the general maintenance of the beach. Several Commissioners met with myself, George Gonsalves and others from the neighborhood on Monday May 19th at the beach.

They gave us the go ahead to clean up and maintain the infrastructure the town installed over a decade ago.

Speaking of which there is a lot of decay around the rain garden from the pressure treated timbers. We’d like to replace those with rock. It won’t be cheap, but it will be a one time expenditure. The $$ will hopefully be approved by the membership in the fall for reimbursement, so we can avoid a special meeting before then.

On that note, when you see George and Mike down there working away, thank them.

And lastly, a quick note about the kayak racks.

To the best of my knowledge, there is a 2 kayak per household maximum, and spots are available on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. If there is different information regarding those statements, please make myself or someone else on the board aware.

This was brought to my attention yesterday. We have 2 new members. Daniel and Allysa from Glen Rd. I met them at the end of the day on Sunday after the clean up.
They joined the association on the spot and asked if they could leave their kayaks on the rack. I said yes as long as there is space.

Daniel asked about another rack. I told him we could put it on the agenda this fall.

Have a Safe and Happy Summer!

Respectfully,

Patrice O’Connor
